been awhile since i'v used mine hard to get patch files.there been changes not aware of, what is a dongle? and why is it used? also wanting to get newer receiver any sugestions?

Receiver brand: CONAXSAT
Receiver model: CNX MINI
Dish type: 500
LNB settings: 110 119

OK Patch files are nonexistent at this point. the providers have changed encryption and it has not been broken yet. the dongle is a workaround to get you tv it connects to the internet and provides the encryption keys from a legit card. hope this answers your questions.

The Dongle works well. There are posts on this forum on how to install it and set it up. look for this post under Conaxsat general discusion.

One thing with the mini you absolutely need a 5 volt power adapter because the RS-232 port (null modem port) is not powered on the mini. Some dealers sell it separately if they have them at all.

i tried one on my mini,,and sent it back for a refund,

a dongle is a waste of time and money

some people say they work like a charm and some say they r a waste of time i guess u can make ur own decision...

ok I sent for my dongle for the Mini and I got it,I have a wireless connection I get my internet from my cousin next door.so I bought
a wireless router but I could not set it up in my computer so the dongle is all set up but could not connect it to the internet,is there any way I could set up my router so it will recognize my wireless internet, please help.thanks

If your router is configured as an access point you should be able to plug your dongle into it and be up and running. You will have to look up the manual for your router.
It is possible and usually not that difficult to set up. I am using a Linksys wireless router to broadcast and TP-link wireless access point as the connection for the dongle. So similar situation.
