How to fix the failed CW800S remote.
I fixed the CW800S remote last night and think it will benefit other members here if I post my findings.
First of all, this is really a design flaw for CW800S remote (may apply to 600S, 700S as well). I've never had a problem with a TV, DVD, or VCR remote before, and the CW800S is the first one.
Problem: the solder pads to hold the ird on the remote will peel off easily from print circuit board after the remote was dropped to the floor a few times or with vibration during the shipment, this also explains why someone has a defective remote when it is even brand new.
Don't panic if you have a dead remote because the fix is pretty easy (thanks Bo for your information, it is not easy to figure out by visual inspection, but with a digital multimeter, it is fairly easy), and you can do it yourself if you know how to use a solder iron and a little bit electronics background. Basically you need two jumper wires to fix the problem permanently.

1. open the remote using a small screwdriver (the screwdriver to fix the glasses)
2. prepare 2 short jumper wires (gauge #22 or even smaller for easy soldering)
3. find the ird (on the top end of the print circuit board)
4. use a small screwdriver to scrape the coating on the big traces beside the ird to be used in step 6 as solder pads (remove the coating completely for a good contact, you should see shining copper trace)
5. twist one end of the jumper wire on the leg of ird, solder it to the leg for better contact.
6. solder the other end of the jumper wire to the pad created in step 4.
7. repeat step 5 and 6 for another leg of ird. The problem is now fixed.
8. assembe the remote together and enjoy your new improved remote

Even though the CW remote is not at a good quality, I still like their receivers a lot.
