Re: iks
There are many out there that say the card sharing options are not safe, IP addresses can be traced no matter what precautions are taken.
There are just as many stating that this option is safe if precautions are taken.
Many are using a card share option, and I have yet to hear of anyone getting burnt.
This is not to say it is safe and users will not be hit in the future.
There are laws in both Countries covering signal theft from any provider.
I would think it would be safer to use bev if your from the USA, and safer to use dn if from Canada, although neither are legal.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when thinking about using a card share option receiver.
It dose require an internet connection when wanting TV, and this is the security fault.
A wifi antenna may work if there is an un-protected connection in your area, this type of connection is not always reliable, and not 100% safe. This also may not even be an option unless you live in a well populated city.
It will not work as well as the “stand alone fix”, none will have all the channels you were used to.
Most will not offer PPV, and none will offer PPV 24/7. You will never get your locals, spot beamed and not possible.
Most will have some type of freezing problem, it may be minor but still there.
Servers cost money, once sales dry up and profits are falling will these servers stay up?
If you do decide to go this rout do plenty of homework.
What channels are offered?
How often dose the server go down?
Is it having major freezing problems often?
Did the unit have good support for uses other than card share, or is it a card share unit only?
I personally will not use the card share option, but hold nothing against those that do.
I know of many who got burned by Neosat and their (IKS) Ipro 1000. All I say is do some searching before making a purchase.
Good luck,
Gizz
